Summary

1. Role Purpose

The Live-In Carer will provide high-quality, person-centred care and support to an individual within their own home. The role ensures the person is safe, comfortable, and supported with all aspects of daily living, while promoting independence, dignity, and choice.

2. Key Responsibilities
Personal Care

Support the individual with daily personal care routines, including washing, bathing/showering, dressing, toileting, and grooming.

Assist with mobility, transfers, and safe movement around the home in line with the person’s manual handling plan.

Promote independence and dignity at all times.

Meals and Nutrition

Plan and prepare meals according to the individual’s preferences, cultural needs, and dietary requirements.

Support with eating and drinking where required, ensuring safety and monitoring for any difficulties.

Household Tasks

Maintain a clean, organised, and safe home environment.

Complete daily household duties such as cleaning, laundry, ironing, washing up, and tidying.

Assist with managing household routines and ensuring supplies are stocked (e.g., food, cleaning materials).

Daily Living Support

Support the individual with maintaining routines, hobbies, and meaningful activities.

Provide companionship, emotional support, and encouragement.

Assist with appointments, community access, or outdoor activities based on the individual’s support plan.

Family Interaction

Work respectfully within the family home and maintain positive, professional relationships with family members.

Maintain appropriate boundaries and ensure the individual’s privacy and dignity are upheld.

Record Keeping and Reporting

Keep accurate, up-to-date daily records, charts, and notes in accordance with Tobea Support Ltd policies.

Report any concerns, safeguarding issues, or changes in the person’s health or behaviour immediately to the Manager.

3. Requirements
Essential

Experience working in care or supporting individuals in a home environment.

Ability to work one week on / one week off as a live-in role.

Good communication skills and the ability to work respectfully within a family home.

Reliability, compassion, and a person-centred approach.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.

Desirable

Formal care qualifications (e.g., Care Certificate, Level 2/3 Health & Social Care).

Experience with personal care or live-in care roles.

Knowledge of safeguarding, infection control, and safe moving & handling.
