Summary

Join us as an Implementation Manager, Hedge Accounting

  • We’ll look to you to manage the implementation of a new hedge accounting system and the transformation of the hedge accounting function
  • You’ll collaborate across NWB Treasury functions, working closely with the IT and Change Management teams, as well as the external system vendor
  • This is a 24-month contract role that will provide you with a platform to keep building your knowledge and expertise, and offers you great exposure for you and your work

What you'll do

As our Hedge Accounting Platform Implementation Manager, you’ll lead the implementation of the new hedge accounting platform, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems and processes. A key responsibility will be to establish the platform as the authoritative source for hedge accounting adjustments, disclosures, and management information or reporting.

We’ll look to you to drive the transformation of the hedge accounting function, introducing automation and modernising workflows to align with strategic objectives.

In addition, you’ll be:

  • Making sure this change strengthens and improves the existing control environment
  • Working with hedging desks or risk managers to build their future requirements into the new platform
  • Supporting the design of the bank’s response to and the implementation of the IASB’s Risk Mitigation Accounting or Dynamic Risk Management model and the eventual implementation of IFRS 9 hedge accounting
  • Overseeing project governance, including planning, timelines, risk management, and reporting to senior leadership
  • Supporting change management, including training, communication, and stakeholder engagement to ensure smooth transition and user readiness

The skills you'll need

To succeed in this role, you’ll need strong experience in managing complex projects from initiation through to delivery, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and stakeholder expectations. You’ll also need a proven ability to implement new systems and drive process improvements, introducing change effectively within established environments.

We’ll expect you to have a deep understanding of governance and control frameworks, ensuring that projects adhere to risk management standards and compliance requirements. A strong focus on accurate reporting and management information is essential, enabling timely insights for decision-making and maintaining transparency across stakeholders.

Furthermore, you’ll need:

  • An awareness of financial instruments found in the banking book of a large financial institution
  • A track record of building relationships with technical and non-technical stakeholders across the business
  • The ability to work under pressure, and to handle change in a dynamic environment
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work across different teams and levels
