Summary

What skills and experience we're looking for

Do you want to help children and families overcome challenges, build confidence, and thrive both in school and at home?

At The Bridge Campus, you’ll work with some of the most vulnerable young people, helping them develop the skills, resilience, and belief in themselves to succeed – wherever their journey takes them next.

We’re looking for passionate, skilled practitioners who can form trusting relationships, inspire change, and make a real difference in the lives of children and their families. Using a relational, trauma-informed approach, you’ll support students to re-engage with learning, improve wellbeing, and reach their potential.

About you – you’ll be:

• Empathetic, motivated, and a flexible practitioner with experience supporting children and families.
• Skilled in building strong relationships and using relational, trauma-informed approaches.
• Knowledgeable in SEMH, social and emotional skills development, and parenting support.
• A collaborative team player, committed to improving outcomes for children and families.

What you’ll be doing:

• Supporting pupils and families to overcome barriers and develop social, emotional, and behavioural skills.
• Delivering tailored interventions, both one-to-one and in small groups, for pupils and parents/carers.
• Holding a caseload of pupils aged 9–16 and their families, monitoring progress and celebrating successes.
• Building positive relationships with pupils, families, schools, and multi-agency partners.
• Supporting reintegration into mainstream education where appropriate.
• Assessing needs, planning, delivering, and evaluating targeted interventions to support pupils and families.
• Promoting positive behaviour, inclusion, and engagement with learning.

What the school offers its staff

About Us:

The Harbour School is a multi-site organisation, with campuses at Bay Campus (including Primary at The Bay), The Bridge Campus, The Lighthouse Campus, and the Vista Campus (including The Horizon Service), all based within the city of Portsmouth. We also have an Outreach Support Team and a Hospital tuition service at the Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth.

The Bridge Campus is a full-time, highly specialised Alternative Provision for KS3 and KS4 students who cannot access mainstream school due to social, emotional, or behavioural challenges, permanent exclusion, pregnancy, or being looked-after between placements. Students learn in small groups, following a broad and balanced curriculum with a strong focus on social and emotional skills, and at KS4 they can access a range of option choices. Reintegration into mainstream education is supported where appropriate, and all students are carefully guided towards their next steps.

Why Join Us?

• Be a part of a school that truly believes in educational equity for all learners.
• A supportive team that genuinely cares about the students and each other.
• Training, CPD opportunities, and the chance to grow in your role.
• The opportunity to transform the educational journey of vulnerable young people.
• A rewarding role where no two days are the same (predictability is overrated, anyway!) seeing students succeed against the odds.
