Salary: £28,605 to £31,029 per annum (pro-rata for part-time).

Working Hours: 14.8 hours per week, based on 0.4 FTE.

Contract Type: Fixed term for 12 months.

Join us to deliver our successful Payroll Administrator and Payroll Assistant Manager apprenticeship programmes, supporting learners to achieve in a growing industry.

About the Role

This post plays a central role in delivering high-quality apprenticeship provision within the Adult Learning Service, with a clear focus on payroll. You will design and develop sector-relevant learning resources, ensuring materials reflect current payroll practice and meet apprenticeship standards. You will deliver training to cohorts of apprentices through a blend of face-to-face and online sessions, creating an engaging learning environment that supports progression for all learners.

Alongside group delivery, you will provide individual coaching and assessment, guiding apprentices through their on-programme learning and the development of their portfolios. You will carry out formative assessment, offer clear and constructive feedback, and maintain accurate records across all aspects of the learner journey.

The role involves regular liaison with employers and workplace mentors to review progress, address emerging needs and ensure full employer involvement throughout the programme. You will also support learners in preparing for end-point assessment and contribute to maintaining the high standards expected within the service.

A DBS enhanced check for a regulated activity is required for this post.

About You

To apply for this post, you must:

  • Substantial and recent vocational payroll experience relevant to the apprenticeship standards
  • Experience of teaching, training or coaching others
  • Strong ICT and ILT skills
  • A relevant Level 3 vocational qualification, or significant occupational experience
  • Excellent organisational and record-keeping skills, with the ability to track progress effectively
  • Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to engage learners and employers

The following is also desirable:

  • A teaching qualification at Level 3 or above. Applicants who do not hold this are encouraged to start this within the probationary period. The post holder may be eligible to take this course in-house with a funded place on our Award in Education and Training.
