Summary
We currently have an opportunity for a dedicated, enthusiastic and experienced Cook to join our beautiful Care Home. The position offered is an average of 28 hrs per week worked between Monday to Sunday. This consists of:
Week one - 3 x 8 hrs (7am to 3:30pm)
Week 2 - 4 x 8hrs (7am to 3:30pm)
Following a successful 6 month probationary period staff are enrolled onto a Healthcare Scheme which can help towards medical, dental and optical bills.
You will need to have a relevant qualification or suitable experience of cooking in volume and catering for a variety of dietary needs, including preparation and presentation of soft/pureed foods when necessary (IDSSI knowledge or training would be beneficial). You will need to demonstrate an understanding of safeguarding and confidentiality.
Successful candidates will also need:
To implement and supervise all aspects of kitchen control e.g., menus, hygiene, health and safety, cleaning, waste control and staff.
To identify and recruit with the Care Home Manager all grades of staff under your control within the agreed guidelines.
To supervise and develop staff using the available company resources, in order to maximise their potential.
To order catering consumables from suppliers in line with Company Purchasing policy (giving due consideration to budgets).
To have full understanding of H.A.C.C.P, to ensure all staff adhere to H.A.C.C.P and all documentation is completed and signed by the appropriate members of staff
To complete monthly audits for kitchen, reporting any findings to the Care Home Manager.
To prepare menus for the care home taking into account the content, balance, and nutritional values, in line with agreed budgets.
To consult with residents on a regular basis to ensure that their needs and choices are being met.
To prepare special diets for residents as directed by the care staff.
To maintain a suitable, safe, and cost-effective stock level of food.
To implement and maintain an agreed deep cleaning schedule for the kitchen.
Ensure that all catering areas are kept clean, tidy and in good working order.
To carry out stock takes at the end of each month.
To implement and manage staff rotas.
To cooperate with requests from the Care Home Manager (and Deputy) and residents wherever possible.
To attend staff/resident/relative meetings when required.
To complete all staff personal development reviews.
