Class 2 HGV Skip Wagon Driver – Bury Skip Hire
Location: Bury, BL9
Job Type: Full-time
Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30am – 4:30pm
Salary: Competitive (dependent on experience)
Due to expansion of our fleet, we are looking for a reliable and hardworking Skip Wagon Driver to join our team at Bury Skip Hire. You'll play a key role in providing an efficient and professional skip delivery and collection service, ensuring all work is carried out safely and in compliance with company and legal standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate skip lorries (chain lift) to deliver, exchange, and collect skips from various sites.
- Carry out daily vehicle checks, reporting any defects or maintenance issues.
- Perform basic vehicle maintenance, including checking water, oil, and other fluids.
- Ensure skips are safely loaded, secured, and transported in line with regulations.
- Follow assigned routes and schedules provided by the transport office.
- Interact professionally with customers, ensuring excellent service and correct skip placement.
- Complete necessary paperwork and digital records, such as delivery notes and waste transfer documents.
- Maintain cleanliness of vehicle, including jet washing and interior cab cleaning.
- Adhere to all road traffic laws, site safety rules, and company procedures, especially regarding health, safety, and environmental compliance
- Carry out any other reasonable tasks as required by the Directors.
Requirements
- Valid Class 2 (Category C) HGV licence.
- Valid CPC card and digital tachograph card.
- Previous experience operating skip wagons preferred (training can be provided for the right candidate).
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Strong commitment to safety and compliance.
- Good work ethic and reliability.
- Strong awareness of health & safety.
