Summary
A Vacancy at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust.
This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside the CYP MH Clinical Lin a substantive role to help develop CYP mental health services within UHL and work in a liaison capacity with CAMHS CYP team to deliver collaborative systems and pathways for CYP in UHL with Mental health needs.
As a strong clinical leader, this role will lead on the strategic development of clinical pathways, develop educational programmes for UHL staff, provide patient focused care and create a collaborative approach with the multidisciplinary team and wider stakeholders
You will be presenting to UHL with MH challenges continue to rise and admission to the acute paediatric wards for CYP with MH illnesses or concerns are often complex cases, that have multiple clinical services involved and have prolonged length of stays prior to discharge.
This would be a full time post to be incorporated into the Corporate Nursing Team to work collaboratively with the Matron for Children’s Safeguarding (due to the overlap of the more complex admitted patients) as well as the Lead Nurse for the Children’s Hospital and Children's Emergency Department, Matron for Learning Disability and the UHL Mental Health and Safeguarding Lead.

1. 1.1 To improve patient experience, quality and efficiency of service in the acute paediatric setting by focusing on CYP with mental health issues that can complicate their care and discharge.
1.2 To support staff within the units to appropriately risk assess, plan and deliver care and support the pathway of children and young people with mental health conditions within the acute Trust.
1.3 To ensure the nursing care delivered to CYP with mental and physical health needs is of high quality, research based and is patient and family focussed.
1.4 To work alongside the newly appointed General Paediatrician with an interest in Eating Disorders and the Paediatric Dietician with an Interest in Eating Disorders to develop the inpatient Eating disorder pathway within UHL and to work in collaboration with the CAMHS Eating Disorders service.
1.5 Work with Play Specialists to ensure that resources are available for children / young people whilst in the Children’s ED or on the Paediatric wards.
1.6 To co-ordinate care for children and young people by liaising with the medical, nursing , CAMHS colleagues and other support services and to support communication between the Young Person, acute paediatric/adult medical team, CAMHS, Childrens’ Services, Safeguarding teams, Eating Disorders service, Learning disability team and Discharge team etc .
1.7 To help deliver organise and deliver the MDT Psychosocial weekly meeting between UHL Gen Paeds Team and CAMHS (and other services as required).
1.8 Provide information, referral and/or appropriate “sign-posting” for Children, young people, carer’s and parents.
2. Provide managerial and clinical advice and where necessary practical support with implementation of the Trust’s mental health and associated policies with particular focus on advocacy and compliance with legal responsibilities
2. .1 To develop education and training programmes in collaboration with the Practice Development Teams and Lead Nurse for the Children’s Hospital to ensure that knowledge, skills and competencies of the trained staff and students are able to meet patients' and carers' needs by develop learning outcomes and competency assessments for all staff.
