Summary
Support the senior Vascular Access Team (VAT) members in the day-to-day running of the team. Support clinical teams in the assessment and implementation of a plan of care when a patient has complex vascular access issues. Perform vascular access procedures at the point of care, such as the insertion of midlines and central venous cannulation, involving the use of intravascular injectates, surgical equipment and ability to suture. Support the wider VAT to build capacity and capability through work-based and inter-professional learning, and the application of learning to practice. Act as a role model, educator, supervisor and mentor, whilst working within Trust values. Contribute to clinical audit and critically engage in research activity using the results to underpin own practice and to inform the practice of others and make organisational recommendations. Participate in the surveillance of Vascular Access Devices (VADs) Trust wide, monitoring staff compliance with national and Trust best practice recommendations and offering support to clinical teams when indicated. Participate in the implementation of a Vascular Access Teaching programme for Clinical Teams.
