Summary

Key objectives,Managerial: The post holder will: Be strategically, managerially and operationally responsible for the Practice Development Team which consists of Band 7 PD Midwives, Recruitment and Retention, Fetal Wellbeing Midwives, Professional Midwifery Advocates and Wellbeing Midwives, Midwife for Adult Leaners and Lead Midwives for Internationally Educated Midwives. Demonstrate a positive attitude and high level of motivation by showing a strong commitment to the maternity service. Be accountable for midwifery performance and achievement of all relevant organisational targets and standards, working within the Trusts governance framework and current regulatory and policy requirements. To be aware of local and national guidance for maternity services regarding assessment of fetal wellbeing. Demonstrate excellent personal communication by establishing effective links between the maternity services and the University. Develop, implement and evaluate education and learning opportunities for new and existing employees within the service in compliance with competency frameworks and guide and support newly qualified professionals during their preceptorship. Prioritise workload to meet targets and be able to work under pressure by seeking creative solutions to challenges. Be responsible for ensuring clinical practice is in line with Data Protection/Confidentiality/Caldicott principles. To ensure communication networks are in place to share confidential information across organisational boundaries where appropriate. Promote interdisciplinary working, with outcomes aimed at the best interests of the women and their families. Be responsible for managing changes in clinical practice and service delivery throughout maternity services to meet the needs of women and their families Support colleagues to develop resilience Actively promote diversity, both in the delivery of the Directorates services and in the recruitment, management and development of staff within the clinical areas.
