Summary


This is an exciting new role within Ward 4 at Manchester Royal Infirmary which you will allow you to work closely with the Ward managers, nurses, support and domestic staff to ensure a safe, clean and organised clinical environment.

You will take responsibility for ensuring that all medical equipment is clean and well maintained. You will ensure and maintain safe stock levels on the ward. You will assist with ensuring a safe clean environment and the ordering and provision of food and drink. You will be responsible for assisting with the patient experience tracker and obtaining feedback from patients and their families with the Friends and Family Test (FFT). You will assist the team in continuous quality improvement work.

You will have an organised and positive approach to ensure the tasks at hand are carried out in a timely, effective manner and maintain the environmental database. Able to cope well under pressure, you will utilise excellent communication and team skills.

The right candidate will:

have ability to use own initiative and closely with a second housekeeper

Be able to work as part of a team

Able to work under indirect supervision

Ability to plan and prioritise time & workload

The post holder will work as an integral part of the team, responsible for the co-ordination of services within the Ward area and work as part of the multi-professional team, to ensure a clean, safe and comfortable environment.

The main elements of the role include catering responsibilities, cleaning,
maintaining stores, minor maintenance of equipment and re-stocking of areas together with other specified tasks as directed by the shift leader.

The post holder will be required to work closely with contractors, support services, monitor quality standards, report deficiencies, and take appropriate action. The post holder will ensure that the tidiness and appearance of the department is conducive to good patient care. Patients’ privacy and dignity must be always respected.
