Summary

We are seeking a responsible and safety-conscious operative to inspect, clear, and maintain balancing ponds and associated drainage infrastructure. This role is essential to ensuring effective water flow, flood prevention, and environmental compliance across managed sites.

Key Responsibilities
• Conduct routine inspections of balancing ponds, swales, and drainage ditches.
• Remove debris, silt, vegetation, and blockages from inlets, outlets, and overflow structures.
• Monitor water levels and report signs of erosion, pollution, or structural damage.
• Operate hand tools and light machinery (e.g., strimmer's, pumps, excavators if qualified).
• Maintain access paths, fencing, and signage around pond areas.
• Record inspection findings and maintenance activities accurately.
• Ensure compliance with environmental and health & safety regulations.

Requirements
• Previous experience in grounds maintenance, drainage, or environmental services preferred.
• Understanding of sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) and water flow management.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and on uneven terrain.
• Good physical fitness and attention to detail.
• Basic mechanical or landscaping skills.
• Full UK driving licence may be required for mobile roles.
