Job Description
The London Borough of Bexley is seeking an experienced Senior Auditor (Interim) to join the Assurance and Risk team within Corporate Services & Finance. Reporting to the Head of Assurance and the Internal Audit Manager, this role will support the delivery of the Internal Audit Plan and manage a varied portfolio of audit assignments.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide assurance on the effectiveness of internal control, risk management, and governance processes.
Research, plan, and prepare audit terms of reference for approval.
Conduct audits efficiently and effectively, meeting deadlines and budget requirements.
Undertake follow-up reviews and support continuous improvement of the audit service.
Analyse data, identify risks, and ensure controls are effective.
Communicate findings clearly with Heads of Service and Directors, agreeing Management Action Plans.
Report significant risks or governance issues identified during audits.
Adhere to Global Internal Auditing Standards and Council policies.
Stay updated on legislation, regulations, and audit techniques.
Promote the use of new technology to improve service delivery.
Requirements:
ACA, ACCA, CIA (or equivalent qualification) – part-qualified candidates considered.
Minimum 3 years’ internal audit experience.
Public sector and school audit experience highly beneficial.
Strong analytical and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively with senior stakeholders.
Availability to attend the office (or relevant Bexley location) twice per week.
