Primary Teacher - PRU - Islington
Full Time | Term Time Only | November/December 2025 Start
Paid to Scale | Long Term Role (Temp to Perm)
We are are working with a specialist Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Islington to recruit a qualified Primary Teacher (QTS) to join their team on a full-time basis.
This is a highly rewarding opportunity to work with pupils in Key Stages 1 and 2 who have been referred due to social, emotional, or behavioural needs. The successful teacher will work within small class sizes, with strong support from teaching assistants and the wider therapeutic team. A nurturing approach, resilience, and a passion for inclusive education are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons tailored to pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs
- Differentiate learning to ensure accessibility and progress for all pupils
- Establish strong, trusting relationships with pupils, often through trauma-informed practice
- Work closely with support staff, therapists and senior leaders to meet pupil needs
- Implement individual behaviour plans and support reintegration to mainstream when appropriate
- Contribute to the school's wider ethos of inclusion, emotional wellbeing and restorative approaches
Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) - Primary
- Experience teaching pupils with behavioural needs or in alternative provision
- Strong behaviour management skills and a nurturing approach
- Familiarity with trauma-informed or therapeutic teaching models
- Commitment to helping vulnerable pupils re-engage with learning
