Summary

If you’re looking to explore a career within the marine industry and want to work in a diverse role with training provided – we have the role for you!

About us

At boatfolk, we share a passion for boating and getting people out on the water. We are now part of the UK’s largest marina group, Premier Marinas, operating 22 coastal locations across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. But we’re about so much more than just marinas, whether it’s our onsite yacht brokers or boat repairs services - everything we do is about delivering the best possible experience for our community.

We are looking to recruit a Marina Operative at Penarth Marina in Cardiff Bay. The successful candidate will be joining a friendly, dedicated team who work hard to provide the highest levels of customer service and satisfaction. This multi-facetted role is a great opportunity for a customer focused individual with a flexible work ethic to join our team in a busy, purpose-built marina and boatyard.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate:
• Proven customer service or customer facing experience
• Flexibility and adaptability to both marina and boatyard operations
• Ability to learn and use computer software systems
• “A can do" attitude and flexible approach to teamwork
• Be able to stay calm under pressure

In this role you will support the Marina Manager in proactively facilitating the efficient and safe running of the marina and boatyard, providing first-class customer service and carrying out general site maintenance. A good knowledge of boat handling and experience driving plant would be desirable but not essential as training, where required, will be given. A full clean UK driving license is essential.

This role includes working outdoors in all weathers as part of a rota operating over a 14-day cycle including nights, weekends and bank holidays.

In return, we offer a competitive salary, annual leave, a contributory pension scheme, free onsite parking and other benefits.

If you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly, we encourage you to apply. Full training can be provided, and you may be just the right candidate for this or for any other roles we have - apply today!

We are committed to equality of opportunity for all staff and applications from individuals are encouraged regardless of age, disability, sex, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief and marriage and civil partnerships. We believe that diverse talent makes us stronger.

Proof of eligibility to work in the UK will be required. Our Applicant Privacy Notice can be found on our website.

To apply please send your CV along with a covering letter to the Marina Manager, StuartJ@boatfolk.co.uk. Successful applicants will be contacted and invited for an interview.

Application deadline: Monday 14th December 2025. We reserve the right to appoint to the role should a suitable candidate be found prior to the closing date.
