Summary

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Echo Educator (18 hours per week) to join our cardiac imaging team and lead the development of echocardiography training for our critical care. This exciting role offers the opportunity to shape the future of cardiac ultrasound education by delivering high-quality teaching, mentoring junior staff, and supporting the implementation of structured training programmes within critical care.
The successful candidate will be BSE-accredited (or equivalent), with a strong clinical background in echocardiography and a commitment to professional development. Excellent communication and leadership skills are essential, along with a collaborative approach to working within multidisciplinary teams. The post will comprise clinical and management responsibilities, with expertise in simple and advanced Echo imaging. In addition, you should have experience in all types of non-invasive cardiac physiology.

The Part time (18 hours) Deputy Principal Cardiac Physiologist Practice Educator for 12 months will work with the Principal Cardiac Physiologists providing training and education for Critical care.
The post-holder will be expected to function independently as an expert physiologist in echocardiography including point of care imaging.
The post-holder will work with the service leads for echo, cardiac rhythm management and non-invasive cardiology. The successful candidate will be able to maintain their clinical skills as well which may include one day a week at the Barts Heart Centre if desired.
This role is specifically to teach and train clinicians, registrars, and nurses to perform echocardiography in the critical care unit at Barts Heart Centre. The successful candidate is also required to engage in clinical activities for inpatient referrals.
The post holder is also expected to contribute on weekend rotational inpatient echo cover.
