Summary
School Business Partner (HR Office Manager/Adviser) - multi-site role
Start Date: January 2026
Salary: Grade 7, £36,363 - £39,152 (FTE) per annum (Actual salary based on hours: £21,328.23 - £22,964.09 p.a.)
Contract: fixed term until 31st December 2026 pending a review of staffing structure and requirements at school level. Hours: 24 hours per week, term time only to include INSET days + 2 weeks in the school holidays (41 weeks)
Location: Working across a cluster of primary schools in South Gloucestershire and Bristol

The Role
Are you a highly organised, people-focused HR professional looking for a role where you can make a real impact?As an HR School Business Partner, you will play a central role in shaping high-quality HR practice across a cluster of Leaf Trust primary schools. You will be part of each school’s leadership team, providing expert guidance and helping to build positive, well-supported working environments for staff and pupils.The Leaf Trust is a growing family of schools committed to excellence, inclusion and collaboration. As part of our development, we are introducing a new School Business Partner model, bringing together HR, Finance and Operations specialists who work collectively to support several schools. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of an innovative, forward-thinking approach that values partnership, autonomy and professional expertise.You will take the lead on HR across a cluster of four primary schools, based mainly at one school with regular travel across your cluster. As a key member of each Senior Leadership Team (SLT), you will provide trusted HR advice, ensure compliance, lead safer recruitment and support staff wellbeing. You will also line-manage HR administrative colleagues to ensure consistent, high-quality HR practice.Working closely with the School Business Partners for Finance and Operations, you will help deliver a cohesive business partnership function that supports schools to operate efficiently, strategically and with a strong focus on people.What you will doAdvise Headteachers and senior leaders on all aspects of HR and employment relationsLead HR administrative teams to deliver excellent service and complianceEmbed Trust-wide HR policies, safer recruitment practices and wellbeing initiativesUse workforce data and insights to support decision-making and school improvementContribute to Trust-wide strategy through collaboration and shared learningSupport smooth school operations through efficient HR processes and strong communicationThis is a hands-on, varied role where no two days are the same — ideal for someone who thrives on problem-solving, building relationships and bringing structure to busy environments.What we’re looking forCIPD Level 5 (or equivalent experience) with strong employment law knowledgeHR leadership experience in a multi-site or complex organisation (education experience desirable but not essential)A confident advisor with excellent interpersonal and communication skillsCollaborative, adaptable, and able to work effectively with cross-functional teamsOrganised, proactive and comfortable working independentlyData-informed with a passion for supporting staff wellbeing and developmentIf you thrive in a collaborative, forward-thinking environment and enjoy making a tangible difference, we would love to hear from you. Fluency Duty This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) and therefore the ability to converse at ease with pupils, parents and other users and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.
