Summary


We are seeking passionate and dedicated pharmacists to join our dynamic pharmacy team. This is an excellent opportunity to make a significant and meaningful impact for both mental and physical health patient groups in diverse clinical settings. These roles will be mainly ward based at either The Wells Road Centre, Lings Bar Hospital, Highbury Hospital, Sherwood Oaks, Hopewood or Blossomwood.

Key Responsibilities:
• Conduct comprehensive medication reviews.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, junior doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
• Provide education and training on medication to patients and other healthcare professionals.
• Contribute to the development of clinical guidelines and protocols.
• Promotion and participation in audits and quality improvement projects.
• Mentoring junior pharmacists and foundation trainees.

You will be responsible for delivering expert pharmaceutical care to individuals with mental and physical health conditions, ensuring safe and effective use of medications.

This will include
• Working closely with multidisciplinary teams (MDT), providing medication reviews, offering therapeutic advice, and supporting treatment optimisation.
• Participating in MDT meetings and ward rounds, providing pharmaceutical input and patient-specific care plans.
• Providing training, mentorship, and assessments for pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and other healthcare professionals.
• Offering specialist medicines information and counselling to patients, carers, and healthcare staff.
• Clinically validating prescriptions, oversee dispensing activities, and ensure compliance with legal and professional standards.
• Collaborating with the wider pharmacy team and MDT colleagues to develop and implement clinical audits, research projects, and quality improvement initiatives.
• Collaborating with medical and nursing teams to optimise prescribing practices and medication management.
• Supporting the development and implementation of treatment guidelines and Trust-wide medicines optimisation strategies.
• Acting as a role model and providing leadership support, including cover for senior pharmacy roles when necessary.
• Providing out-of-hours pharmacy duties through participation in the pharmacy oncall service to maintain continuous pharmacy service.

The role will be mostly clinically focused with a small dispensary commitment and on-call/emergency duty commitment.

Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment.
