About the Role

As a Senior Information Governance Officer, you will be responsible for supporting the delivery of day to day information governance services to a range of commercial clients, including local authorities, multi academy trusts and other private or public sector organisations.

Specifically, this will mean:

Conducting Data Protection Compliance Reviews with our external clients which could be onsite at their premises (primarily in the South West) or completed remotely – this will include liaising with their stakeholders, reviewing key areas on a risk basis, and drafting a balanced report for them giving clear actions for improved compliance.
Responding to queries that come from our external clients which could include general advice, how to recover from data breaches, advising on subject access requests (SARs), risk assessments (DPIAs), data sharing, assurance and contractual measures covering data processors.
About You

Ideally, we are looking for individuals who have a background in data protection and/or information security. You will under the supervision of an Information Governance Manager and will have extensive training opportunities to you in the information governance field to further the quality of the services we provide.

As you will be working with external service users as well as members of the public often dealing with very sensitive information you will need to have excellent customer relationship skills as well ad an organised and disciplined approach. Our main offices are the award-winning, modern Civic Centre in Keynsham, halfway between Bath and Bristol, easily accessible via car or public transport, with a train station 5 minutes’ walk away. There are also opportunities to be based at our other council offices in the Guildhall, Bath and in The Hollies, Midsomer Norton, as well our client’s base in Clevedon and Weston-super-Mare.
