Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to become part of a newly established and innovative Haemoglobinopathy team at London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust. Following a successful bid, we have securedrecurrent funding from NHS Englandvia the Medical Technologies (MedTech) funding stream to enhance and sustain our current services.
This investment will support the development of anenhanced Red Cell Exchange serviceand expand capacity forDay Pain Managementat the newly developedHaemoglobinopathy Ambulatory Hub at Central Middlesex Hospital, serving adult patients across the North West London region.
This programme directly addresses the concerns raised in the"No One’s Listening" report, tackling health inequalities and improving outcomes for patients living with haemoglobinopathies. We are recruiting for the position of:Clinical Nurse Manager – Haemoglobinopathy Services.
• This leadership role is ideal for a senior nurse with significant clinical experience in haemoglobinopathies or haematology and proven people management skills. You will lead a dedicated team within the Haemoglobinopathy Ambulatory Hub to deliver a high quality apheresis and pain management service, working collaboratively with colleagues across North West London, including our partners atImperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. Experience in acute care environments (Haematology, ED, ITU, Renal) is essential. Training and ongoing support will be provided.
• Demonstrate clinical knowledge and expertise at the level of specialist practice within the field of haemoglobinopathy and apheresis nursing, by keeping oneself up to date in issues related to specialty, developing, maintaining and utilising specialist skills and knowledge, including completing mandatory/annual training updates.
• To assume responsibility for undertaking tasks delegated by the Advanced Nurse Practitioner/ Nurse Consultant /General Manager/HON, and this should include ensuring service requirements are fulfilled such as mentoring responsibilities, auditing, clinical governance initiatives, contributing to quality agenda and other regulatory responsibilities, e.g. JACIE accreditation, HTA.
• To promote a clinical environment that is conducive to learning clinical procedures, including deep vein cannulation and apheresis, supporting and participating in the supervision/teaching of more junior and/or new staff, both nursing and other members of the multidisciplinary team. Working in partnership with external representatives to maintain standards of practice.
• Monitor and evaluate all aspects of service provision to maintain safe and high standards of care, assisting and advising staff, both registered and unregistered in the delivery of patient care whilst promoting accountability relating to practice as laid down by the NMC.
