Culture and Archives Directorate

The development of our cultural venues will form a key part of our work over the coming years. We will build on North Yorkshire’s natural capital, strong local economy and resilient communities, to improve the way local services are delivered and to support education at every stage for all.
The Role
North Yorkshire Council is seeking a Cultural Venue Development Coordinator to join our newly established Culture & Archives Service. This is a pivotal role within our Creative and Cultural Venues branch, supporting the growth and sustainability of our seven cultural venues across the county.
You will lead on developing and coordinating commercial opportunities within our museums, galleries, and performance spaces - from private hire and retail to secondary spend initiatives. This is a chance to combine creativity with operational delivery, ensuring our venues thrive as inclusive, accessible, and vibrant cultural hubs.
Due to the nature of this role, the successful candidate will be required to travel across the county and work some weekends.
We can be flexible regarding working days and this can be discussed further at interview stage.
What you will bring
The successful candidate will have:
· Strong background in sales, promotion, or corporate hire
· Excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
· Confidence in using IT systems (Microsoft Office and bespoke programmes)
· A proactive, creative approach to developing commercial offers
· Commitment to safeguarding, equality, and customer care
Travel across the county to sites in Harrogate and Skipton will be required in this role.
