Summary


JOB SUMMARY:


To provide andmaintaina flexible, dedicated, comprehensive frontline support service to the staff and patients and provide a support service to other departments of the Trust. This involves undertaking a wide range of duties including moving and handling that enable the clinical and non-clinical departments to function effectively.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


The post holder will work as part of a team to provide an efficient Portering service to the Trust.


To provide and to contribute to a first-class customer care service to all users of the Trust.


To undertake driving duties in a Trust tail-lift vehicle, to enable the collection of various waste streams and dirty linen from areas of the Trust premises.


To transfer furniture andassistinrelocatingequipment during office relocations and or new developments.


To collect bagged/caged linen/laundry from designated locations as in agreed schedules. This includes soiled and infected linen.


To undertake refuse collections of clinical, household, confidential and specialist waste.

BTH is part of the Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Collaborative, therefore all roles will berequiredto support system wide working across the Lancashire & South Cumbria regions.

Confidentiality


Each member of the Trust’s staffis responsible forensuring the confidentiality of any information relating to patients and forcomplying withall the requirements of the Data Protection Act whilst carrying out the duties of the post. Any breaches in confidentiality will be dealt with by the Trust Disciplinary Procedure and may result in dismissal.






DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

To transfer furniture and equipment for disposal.


Undertake driving duties as necessaryin accordance withservice needs, occasional off-site local driving isrequired.


To undertake daily vehicle checks and report faults.


To ensure refuelling of vehicle is undertaken as and whenrequired.


Ensure that the expectations of service users are met through the compliance with the Portering Service Standards.


Attend training asrequiredto meet statutory and service needs within the Portering Service.


Tobe responsible foralways wearing correct Personal Protective Equipment, provided by the Trust for own protection.


Ensure compliance with written procedures for all aspects of Portering Services, these forming the basis of Portering Service Standards and induction training.


To attend incidents of fire in line with operational procedures.


Have responsibility for the safe and effective utilisation of equipment used by the Portering Service.


As directed,assistnewly appointed porter/drivers during the local induction phase, in awareness and familiarisation of the services provided and the processes that enable the service to function effectively, safely, and securely.


The Portering Servicesoperatethroughout the year and as such the post-holder will be under a contractual obligation to work on National Public/Bank Holidays, if rostered to do so.
