Summary
Are you a professional experienced in avionics with expertise in Communication, Radar principles and Avionic systems? Could you use your extensive knowledge to train and inspire the next generation of the Royal Navy’s Aircraft Engineering Technicians and Officers?
The Royal Naval Air Engineering and Survival School (RNAESS) is seeking a Specialist Instructor Officer to deliver high-quality training in Communication, Radar & Avionic Principles and Systems.
You will teach adult learners advancing their careers through promotion courses and avionics systems training. These courses lead to either:
Level 4 Certificate of Higher Education, or
Level 5 Foundation Degree in Aeronautical Engineering,
delivered by the MOD and accredited by the University of Portsmouth.
Your trainees will progress to become engineering supervisors on Royal Navy Air Squadrons deployed worldwide.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver practical and theoretical lessons to classes of up to 16 students.
Prepare teaching materials and maintain course documentation.
Invigilate and mark assessments, propose updates, and set new exam questions.
Mentor and develop new team members once experienced.
Teaching experience is preferred, but full Defence Trainer Course training will be provided if required, with opportunities for further civilian teaching qualifications.
Working Hours:
Monday–Thursday: 08:00–16:30
Friday: 08:00–14:30
Training runs for 45 weeks per year in a supportive environment with experienced mentors and a strong pastoral care network.
