Description
The Afghan Refugees Housing & Welfare Support Practitioner (Project) is a vital role dedicated to supporting Afghan refugees in building a new life in our community. This position focuses on ensuring that refugees have access to safe and secure housing, essential resources, and comprehensive welfare support. Our aim is to create a welcoming environment that fosters integration, empowerment, and stability for these individuals and families who have faced significant challenges. As a practitioner, you will collaborate with various stakeholders, including local authorities, non-profit organizations, and community members, to develop and implement effective housing solutions and welfare programs tailored to the needs of the Afghan refugee population. This role requires a blend of compassion, cultural competency, and practical problem-solving skills to address the unique barriers that refugees may encounter. The Housing & Welfare Support Practitioner will not only assist in meeting immediate housing needs but will also provide ongoing support by connecting refugees with employment opportunities, healthcare services, and educational resources, ultimately promoting their long-term well-being and self-sufficiency. This project aims to cultivate a sense of belonging among Afghan refugees while enhancing community understanding and solidarity.

Responsibilities
Conduct intake assessments to identify individual and family needs related to housing and welfare.
Develop personalized support plans and connect refugees with appropriate housing options.
Provide information about tenant rights and responsibilities to empower refugees in their housing situations.
Collaborate with local agencies and resources to facilitate access to healthcare, employment, and education services.
Organize and lead workshops on life skills, financial literacy, and community integration for refugees.
Monitor and evaluate the progress of refugees in their housing and welfare support plans, making adjustments as necessary.
Advocate on behalf of refugees to ensure their voices are heard and their needs are met within the community.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in social work, human services, or a related field preferred.
Experience working with refugees or marginalized communities is highly desirable.
Strong understanding of housing policies and welfare support systems.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with cultural competence.
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Effective problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Knowledge of local resources and networks available to support refugees.

Hours Per Week: 21.50
Start Time: 09:00
End Time: 17:00
Pay Per Hour: £15.19
