Summary

General Responsibilities To act in accordance within the Radiographers Professional Code of Conduct at all times, HCPC standards also need to be met to ensure registration is maintained. Maintain portfolio of CPD evidence as required to meet HCPC standards. To ensure requirements of IR(ME)R 2017 and Ionising Radiation Regulations (IRR17) are met. To comply with all policies and procedures with the departmental Quality System, providing input to updating documents as required. To ensure all equipment is safe for clinical use on a daily basis, performing Q.A. checks and reporting any discrepancies as described in the handover procedure. Equipment must also be kept clean and stored correctly. Complete the competency portfolios for each work area, ensuring tasks are only undertaken unsupervised once competency is confirmed Supporting, training and supervising students and other junior radiographic staff within the assigned work area. Pre- Treatment Undertake assessment of all patients prior to the planning procedure to ensure they are fit to undertake the procedure and have all necessary support. Seek advice from senior colleagues and/ or referring to other specialists e.g. Macmillan social worker as necessary. Ensure all patients are given information regarding the procedure and that informed consent has been obtained for all elements of the process. Localise treatment volumes using the CT Scanner, simulator or clinical mark up as requested under the direction of the Advanced Practitioners Administer I.V. contrast as directed by the Clinician once competence has been achieved by following the formal training programme. Perform virtual simulation or prepare data for export into Eclipse planning system as required. Calculation Room Ensuring all treatment information is ready for safe and accurate use for treatment delivery. Ensuring all peripheral data is also correct, to include image scheduling, appointment scheduling and entry of data required for accurate capture of the radiotherapy dataset. Performing calculations both by hand and using Radcalc programme to calculate doses for non-computer planned treatments. Treatment Undertake assessment of all patients on a daily basis to ensure they are fit for treatment and receiving all necessary support. Seek advice from senior colleagues and/ or referring to other specialists e.g. Macmillan social worker as necessary. Ensure all patients receive safe and accurate treatment, reporting any concerns regarding set up to a senior colleague. Problem solve technical problems relating to individual patient treatments while acting within own scope of practice, referring issues to senior colleagues as necessary. Safely and accurately deliver treatment to patients ensuring all elements of treatment are performed correctly including in vivo dose measurements and any beam modifications. Review portal images in accordance with imaging protocols and procedures. Ensure all aftercare is in place at the end of radiotherapy treatment and that all documentationis completed correctly Please see attached job description and person specification for full details.
