Summary
To practice at an advanced level of professional autonomy and accountability within the multidisciplinary breast team adhering to breast unit guidelines, NICE guidelines and NMC Code of Conduct. Demonstrate expert knowledge and understanding of breast cancer, benign breast diseases and associated treatments For all patients perform comprehensive assessment, differential diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate individual interventions resulting in safe and appropriate management, referral or discharge from the diagnostic clinic To prescribe according to the Trust Prescribing Policy and an agreed scope of practice. To provide and request diagnostic interventions in response to needs of patients, for example, fine needle aspiration, core biopsy, punch biopsy and in keeping with breast unit guidelines Be able to explain these clearly, including the concept of risk, to patients in a clear and confident manner. Produce accurate, contemporaneous, and complete records of patient consultation, consistent with legislation, policies and procedures. Prioritise, organise and manage own workload in a manner that maintains and promotes quality. Take responsibility for own learning and performance including participating in clinical supervision and acting as a positive role model, as well as continuous preparation for annual review Contribute to the development of local guidelines, protocols and standards.
