Summary

Event & Venue Safety Officer

Hours: 36 per week

This role requires innovative and imaginative skills, with the ability to handle a wide range of issues and resolve problems while adhering to existing guidelines and policy. Responsibilities will include written work, investigative analysis, partnership development, planning and the use of initiative.

The post holder will posses knowledge and expertise in various relevant professional disciplines, particularly in the field of event and venue safety.

Typically the post holder will hold a degree in a related discipline or have equivalent demonstratable experience. Alternative qualifications such as the NEBOSH National General Certificate or a HND in a relevant subject combined with experience in event and venue safety management will also be considered.

The postholder will represent the Council in dealings with a range of external stakeholders and must project a positive and professional image of the organisation. The role requires effective communication and the ability to provide sound professional advice to both internal and external partners, recognising the potential impact to the Council's reputation. The ability to deal with differing opinions and to mediate or negotiate resolutions where necessary (up to 10% of this role) is essential.

The postholder will also provide expert advice and guidance to event and venue organisers throughout the City, offering practical solutions and alternative methods of achieving compliance. Complex or sensitive matters will be escalated to the the Senior Officer or Operations Manager where appropriate.

Our salary range typically reflects the initial starting salary and annually increases until it reaches the top of the range.
