As part of the wider People Operations department, the Payroll team are critical in contributing to our employee experience by delivering accurate, compliant and timely payroll whilst offering clear support to our employees on pay-related issues.
To support and help to lead this work, we are now looking for a Payroll Team Leader to join us on a fixed term basis for 2 years, based at the National Railway Museum in York. This role can be considered on a part-time or full-time basis, depending on the preferences of the candidate (21-35 hours pw).
About the role
The Payroll Team Leader plays a key role in overseeing the day-to-day operation of all payroll activities, providing leadership and support to the payroll team, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations, and driving continuous improvement in processes, systems, and service delivery. The Payroll Team Leader acts as an escalation point for complex payroll queries and plays a key role in ensuring excellent customer service to employees and stakeholders.
About you
Joining us, you will bring solid experience of payroll, overseeing end to end payroll processes and a strong understanding of UK payroll legislation and statutory reporting requirements. You will have experience of leading or supervising a team, and supporting, managing and upskilling team members effectively. Due to the requirements of this role, we are looking for candidates who hold a CPP qualification, or are working towards one. Working as part of the wider People & Culture team, you will be collaborative, solutions-focused and adaptable. Experience of using iTrent will be beneficial.
