Summary


Lead Professional Midwifery Advocate – Band 7, 22.5 hours per week

A vacancy as a Lead PMA Midwifehas arisen for an enthusiastic, skilled midwife with a minimum of three years as a Band 6, including significant sessional PMA experience. This post provides an exciting opportunity to step into a team lead role; managing an already well established PMA service. You will continue the delivery of the AEQUIP model to the Maternity Unit, as well as having the opportunity to develop this further.

You will have a passion for supporting and advocating for all grades of staff within the maternity unit, as well as facilitating a birth reflection service for women and birthing people.

The post holder will work 22.5 hrs/weekover 3 weekdays (0.6WTE), whilst our 4 sessional PMAs cover the remaining 2 day (0.4WTE).

The main duties of the job will include:
• Managing the roster, overseeing and supporting the activity of the team and arranging bimonthly team supervision sessions.
• Facilitating both 1:1 and group RCS sessions, for all members of the maternity team.
• Submitting monthly workforce returns data.
• Ensuring a visible presence around the maternity unit, and in the community, to promptly respond to clinical situations.
• Attending weekly governance meetings and liaising with the team around learning and support required.
• Supporting staff through statement writing and the MNSI process.
• Liaising with the Practice Development and Clinical Facilitator Teams.
• Networking with the SW London Sector and London regional PMAs.
• Co-ordinating the birth reflection service.

We strive to provide the highest standard of pregnancy and birth experience for women with both high and low risk pregnancies, excelling in the provision of high-risk care for women who need it, while actively increasing our homebirth rate and the option of giving birth in the midwifery led unit.
