Role Overview
Powys County Council is seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker to join the Assessment South team within Children’s Services. This is a temporary assignment providing essential support to the service during a period of long-term sickness cover.

You will play a key role in safeguarding children and supporting families, ensuring assessments are completed to a high standard and in line with statutory requirements.

Key Responsibilities
Undertake assessments of children and families in line with legislation and policy.

Manage a caseload, prioritising effectively to meet deadlines.

Work collaboratively with colleagues, partner agencies, and external stakeholders.

Provide professional advice and support to less experienced social workers.

Ensure accurate record-keeping and compliance with statutory frameworks.

Essential Requirements
Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration.

Experience in children’s services, particularly assessment work.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to manage complex caseloads and make sound professional judgments.

Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
