Summary
We Are Hiring: Chef Manager
Job Base: Care Home
Location: SW1P, London
Reports To: Home Manager
Job Purpose:
To manage an efficient, high-quality catering service in line with resident dietary needs, statutory regulations, and organisational standards.
Summary:
This role supports the delivery of high-quality nursing and residential care. The job holder must understand and comply with all health & safety, equality & diversity, and professional standards.
Key Accountabilities:
1. Manage food quality and hygiene from preparation to service, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations; consult residents on menus.
2. Deliver the organisation’s menu framework, ensuring high-quality meals that meet individual and special dietary needs.
3. Manage special diets and ensure compliance with Allergen Regulations.
4. Manage stock, orders, and supplies; adjust menus when required and maintain budgets.
5. Take ownership of the Food Safety Management System and ensure team compliance.
6. Ensure all food hygiene, safety, and legislative procedures are followed.
7. Support risk assessments, report issues, and ensure equipment safety.
8. Recruit, supervise, and develop kitchen staff in line with HR and L&D requirements.
9. Contribute to the home’s Health & Safety plan and quality audit cycles.
Qualifications:
1. GCSE Grade C (or equivalent) in English and Maths
2. Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate
3. City & Guilds 706 Level 1/2 or NVQ2 in Professional Cookery
Experience Required:
1. Experience cooking/catering for large numbers
2. Experience working to deadlines and prioritising workload
3. Experience supervising or managing staff
4. Practical experience using catering machinery
5. Understanding of Food Safety Management Systems
