Rutland County Council is seeking a motivated and detail orientated Legal & Information Governance Officer to join our Legal & Democratic Services team. This is a unique opportunity for someone looking to develop their legal career, with the potential to undertake a training contract.

About the role…
As the Legal & Information Governance Officer you will:
• contribute to a wide range of legal and information governance matters supporting the Council’s commitment to transparency, compliance and community-focused decision making
• work closely with colleagues across departments providing legal advice
• be responsible for ensuring that the Council’s information governance framework is compliant and effective.

• be enthusiastic, proactive and committed to delivering high quality legal & Information Governance support
• have a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate information clearly and effectively
• have a collaborative mindset and a genuine interest in public service are essential as is a willingness to learn and grow within a dynamic legal environment

The Legal & Information Governance Officer Interviews will be held in the week commencing 08 December 2025. Please be advised this could be subject to change, in which case we will give appropriate notice.

To be successful in this role – you may have experience working in the following roles:
• Legal Assistant – providing administrative and legal support within a law firm or in-house legal team
• Information Governance Officer – dealing with data protection, FOI requests and subject access requests
• Paralegal – supporting legal teams with research, drafting and case management
• Compliance Officer – ensuring organisational adherence to legal and regulatory standards
