Summary
An exciting opportunity for a band 5 nurse to join a dynamic, motivated team of renal nurses who deliver a high standard of specialist outpatient care.
You will be working in a friendly and supportive environment providing comprehensive care and support to dialysis dependent patients
We currently have 12 stations running 07:00 – midnight Monday ,Wednesday and Friday and 07:00 to 19:00 - Tuesday , Thursday and Saturday .
All applicants must have a current NMC PIN number included in the application.
Applications without a full NMC PIN will not be considered.
- Set up dialysis machine according to patient prescription
- Band 5 nurses will assess patients before dialysis
- Calculate and set dialysis prescription on the dialysis machine
- Use ANTT technique as per Trust protocol
- Access vascular access and commenced dialysis treatment
- Deliver prescribed IV medication via dialysis machine
- Monitor patients during treatment
- Troubleshoot any alarms during treatment
- Discontinue and disconnect patient at end of dialysis
- Document treatment on CyberREN and other Trust systems
- Clean dialysis area as per Trust protocol
- Collect monthly blood samples
- Check and report results of monthly blood samples
- Work with members of the MDT
- Audit patient outcomes monthly and discuss with patient and MDT

The post holder will be responsible and accountable for the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of nursing care. Work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team and undertake delegated tasks from the ward sister/charge nurse. Following successful completion of foundation gateway will be required to take charge of ward/department for a span of duty.
