Summary
Are you the leader we are looking for to oversee quality within the Cellular Pathology Clinical Service at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) ensuring we continue to offer high-quality services to the Trust? In conjunction with the Clinical Director, Cellular General Manager, and Lead Healthcare Scientists, you will be responsible for leading on quality issues within the Histopathology, Cytopathology and Mortuary services across our hospitals.
As our services evolve, we wish to embrace technological developments and are currently implementing the Sakura X120 Tissue Processors to work in conjunction with our A120 Automated Embedding Centres to improve workflows in our Adult Histopathology laboratories. Digital pathology is currently being clinically validated across our Histopathology service with plans being developed to introduce the technology into Diagnostic Cytology to support ROSE clinics.
The Clinical Service also includes the Manchester Cytology Centre providing services to the Cervical Cytology Screening Programme for Greater Manchester, Cheshire and Merseyside and East Lancashire and Cumbria.
Whilst you will be central to this exciting work, you won’t be on your own. You will be supported by the Cellular Pathology Senior Leadership Team including the Cellular Pathology General Manager, Lead Healthcare Scientist for Histopathology, as well as Advanced BMS staff, hence achieving can be a result of a rewarding team effort.
We are looking for a visionary leader with excellent communication skills and a management qualification, or evidence of developed management skills honed along your career path. HCPC registered, you will have significant Histopathology experience, with a good awareness of current issues in the pathology service, health and safety legislation and UKAS standards. You will be a leader with strategic capability, who can drive forward modernisation in the context of financial efficiency. This post holder must have drive and tenacity and be able to deliver the necessary changes to keep the department at the forefront of Pathology and ensure that patient safety is central to everything we do.
