Summary
This includes supporting ministers, including the Chief Secretary to the Prime Minister, on all public communications including media relations, visits, speeches and social media.
The new role will work closely with the Press and External Affairs teams to identify opportunities to create engaging social media content, including on official visits to showcase examples of the Cabinet Office and Government’s policies in action.
The Cabinet Office is the central department for the running of Government. The role will be responsible for helping communicate cross-government priorities and show how the government is delivering on its commitments.
Cabinet Office Communications is recruiting an experienced, innovative and enthusiastic Chief Content Producer and strategist to play a central role in developing audience-building strategies and producing creative digital content to implement them.
The successful candidate will be an experienced videographer/photographer, with an in-depth understanding of different social media channels and feel confident advising Ministers on how to effectively communicate government policy through video-led content.
This will include sourcing compelling stories; proactively suggesting ideas; developing consistent visuals; managing the production of engaging campaign content across video-led social media platforms; and analysing impact and sentiment.
You will be working closely with senior personnel, showing a detailed understanding of how to direct and advise the department and individuals within it on social media to get the best content and reach the public where they are.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading the production of high-quality social first digital content from vox-pops to sit down interviews and storyboarded shoots for platforms such as Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, Facebook and Twitter, ensuring consistency with government communication goals;
- Identifying and sourcing opportunities, announcements and policies that can easily illustrate the impact of government initiatives - building and managing these relationships;
- Working closely with the press and external affairs teams and Ministerial private offices to identify opportunities for Ministers to effectively communicate government policies in engaging and relatable ways;
- Advising senior figures on style, directing and supporting them to create the most effective and engaging content;
- Managing the end-to-end production workflow, from concept development and scripting to filming, editing, and final delivery;
- Working with creative and strategy to ensure content production is optimised for each platform, with a focus on engagement and relevancy for younger and diverse demographics;
- Ensuring that all messaging aligns with government communication objectives and is accessible, accurate, and engaging;
- Maintaining a proactive and positive attitude with a passion for producing the best possible creative to truly engage audiences;
- Analysis and continually improving social media output to improve engagement and more effectively target key audiences.
