A Public Sector in Birmingham is currently looking to onboard a temporary Transport Manager to manage 1 of their waste and fleet depots in Birmingham. This is a full-time position with an ASAP start.
Your new role
We are seeking a CPC qualified Transport Manager to oversee waste and fleet operations on a temporary basis. This is a hands‑on, fully on‑site role covering depots across Birmingham, ensuring smooth day‑to‑day operations and compliance with transport regulations.You will act as the key liaison between operations and fleet, managing the fleet team, coordinating waste transport activities, and ensuring driver checks and compliance measures are consistently in place.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the fleet team across Birmingham depots
- Oversee daily transport operations for waste services
- Act as the liaison between operations and fleet, ensuring effective communication and coordination
- Ensure driver checks, compliance, and safety standards are maintained
- Monitor fleet performance and support operational efficiency improvements
- Provide leadership and guidance to staff, ensuring service delivery meets council standards
What you'll need to succeed
- CPC qualification (essential)
- Proven experience in waste operations and fleet management
- Strong leadership and organisational skills
- Ability to work on‑site across multiple depots in Birmingham
- Excellent communication skills to liaise between operations and fleet teams

What you'll get in return
This is a temporary assignment for 3 months with the potential for extension and also the potential for a permanent opportunity. You will also receive a day rate of £350 and be paid on a weekly basis.
