Roles and Responsibilities

  • Supervise whole classes during the short-term absence of teachers, primarily using pre-prepared materials.
  • Maintain discipline and positive behaviour within the classroom, following the school's behaviour policy.
  • Manage the learning environment to ensure students remain on task and are supported in their work.
  • Respond to student questions about the set work and provide encouragement.
  • Collect completed work and leave comprehensive feedback for the absent teacher on class progress and any issues arising.
  • Promote a supportive and productive atmosphere that encourages student engagement and respect.
  • Report any safeguarding or behavioural concerns immediately and appropriately.
  • Provide administrative support to the teaching staff as and when required outside of cover duties.
