Our team at Ottobock are seeking a Sewing Machinist / Sewing Technician for a hands-on role producing high-quality seating systems using technical sewing, pattern cutting and manufacturing skills within a collaborative, quality-driven production environment.

SALARY: Competitive Depending on Experience
LOCATION: Leeds, West Yorkshire
JOB TYPE: 6 Month Fixed Term, Full-Time, Contract
WORKING HOURS: 39 Hours per Week, 7am – 3:30pm Monday to Thursday and 7am – 2pm Friday

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Sewing Machinist / Sewing Technician within a specialist unit producing bespoke seating systems designed to support individuals with complex mobility needs.
As a Sewing Machinist / Sewing Technician you will use industrial sewing skills, pattern work and material knowledge to manufacture high-quality products that meet rigorous quality standards.
Working closely with colleagues across the workshop, the Sewing Machinist / Sewing Technician will contribute to efficient production, accurate stock recording and strong communication while maintaining excellent craftsmanship and safe working practices.

DUTIES
Your duties as the Sewing Machinist / Sewing Technician include:
• Manufacturing and Assembling: Producing seating covers and accessories to a high standard
• Operating Machinery: Using industrial sewing machinery and hand tools competently
• Pattern Work: Making and cutting out a variety of patterns
• Material Knowledge: Applying understanding of materials and production processes
• Quality Assurance: Ensuring products meet internal quality and safety standards
• Team Collaboration: Working closely with the workshop Team Leader and Finishing Supervisor
• Waste Reduction: Applying good working practices to minimise material wastage
• Stock Recording: Correctly booking materials used to maintain accurate stock levels
• Housekeeping: Maintaining a clean and safe working environment
• Health and Safety Compliance: Following all health and safety procedures and PPE requirements
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
ESSENTIAL
• Proven experience of sewing within a production, upholstery, textiles or garment-making environment
• Experience with industrial sewing machines, including flat-bed, overlockers and binding machines
• The ability to read, interpret and follow patterns
• Good attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team
DESIRABLE
• A background in seating, mobility or upholstery manufacturing
• Experience working to production targets
• A practical and hands-on approach to problem solving
• Knowledge of materials used in seating or similar products
