About the Role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and hands-on Junior / Trainee Service Engineer to join our growing Gas Detection and Instrumentation team.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start or develop a career in the instrumentation, electrical, or engineering field. You’ll receive full training to become proficient in the installation, calibration, maintenance, and servicing of fixed and portable gas detection systems and other instrumentation used across industrial and commercial environments.
Key Responsibilities
• Initially assist senior engineers with the installation, Calibration, commissioning, and servicing of gas detection and instrumentation systems.
• Learn to carry out calibration, testing, and fault-finding under supervision.
• Support the completion of service reports and documentation.
• Develop technical knowledge of sensors, transmitters, control systems, and detection technologies.
• Follow company and client health & safety procedures at all times.
• Ultimately working on solo service visits for installation, Calibration, commissioning, and servicing of gas detection and instrumentation systems.
• Provide excellent customer service while representing the company on-site.
• Support the wider business and be flexible enough to undertake other activities to support a growing small business
Requirements
Essential:
• Basic understanding or strong interest in electronics, instrumentation, or electrical systems.
• Willingness to learn and develop new technical skills.
• Good communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Positive attitude and willingness to travel to customer sites.
Desirable:
• Level 2/3 qualification, apprenticeship, or background in Electrical, Electronic, or Mechanical Engineering (or similar).
• Experience using hand tools, test equipment, or working in technical/field environments.
• Knowledge of health & safety practices and safe working procedures.
