About the Role
Barnet Council is seeking a Technical Supervisor to join the Environment Group within the Development Control Team. This is a permanent opportunity to play a key role in supervising developer‑funded works programmes across the borough.
You will oversee a portfolio of projects including:
Carriageway and footway resurfacing works
Vehicle crossovers
Minor traffic management schemes
The role involves ensuring projects are delivered on time, to specification, and within budget, while maintaining compliance with health and safety standards and council policies.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and manage developer‑funded works programmes.
Ensure projects meet required standards, budgets, and timescales.
Oversee compliance with contracts, policies, and standing orders.
Provide excellent stakeholder engagement and customer service.
Resolve day‑to‑day issues to keep programmes on track.
Ensure value for money and “right first‑time” delivery.
Occasionally work outside normal hours to support programme delivery.
Work Arrangement
Primarily site‑based (4–5 days per week).
Flexibility to agree 1 day working from home.
Based at Colindale Offices.
Candidate Profile
We are looking for someone with:
Experience supervising highways, traffic management, or construction projects.
Strong knowledge of health and safety compliance.
Excellent organisational and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to deliver projects to high standards under pressure.
