Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teacher

Location: Croydon, South London
Pay: Upper Pay Scale / SEN Allowance (UPS/SEN equivalent)
Contract Type: Long-term placement with excellent potential for a permanent contract
Start Date: January 2026 Hours: 8:15 am - 4:00 pm, Monday to Friday, term time only (Full-Time)

Long Term Futures are seeking a highly motivated and experienced SEN Teacher for a specialist educational setting (SEN School) in the South London borough of Croydon.

This is a secure long-term placement, commencing ASAP or in January 2026, expected to run until the end of the academic year, with excellent prospects for a permanent contract. Driving Pupil Success in a Specialist Environment

This is a vital full-time teaching role within a multi-disciplinary team. You will be responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing highly individualised lessons tailored to Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and the needs of pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) or complex learning needs.

Design and deliver high-quality, creative lessons aligned with individual pupil needs and modified curricula.

Accurately assess pupil learning and progress using non-traditional methods to effectively differentiate instruction and meet EHCP targets.

Establish and maintain a therapeutic, focused classroom climate using consistent, proactive and restorative behaviour management strategies.

Forge strong, professional relationships with pupils, parents/carers, and external professionals (e.g. , therapists, social workers).

Essential Candidate Requirements

Must hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) or equivalent.

Crucially: Requires experience teaching within a SEN School or Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) setting; mainstream experience alone is insufficient.

Requires successful prior teaching experience working with pupils with SEMH, Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), or complex behavioural needs.
