Summary
We are looking for enthusiastic Band 3/ Endoscopy HealthCare Assistant who are interested joining our supportive and friendly team in Endoscopy at St. George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Successful post holder will already possess excellent communication skills and enjoy working in a friendly, busy, and dedicated team. Endoscopy experience is advantage but not essential, as long as recent clinical experience of working within a relevant healthcare service environment.
Under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse, carry out nursing procedures
following verification of competency and assist with the care and treatment of patients. This
will include: assisting with meeting the comfort and hygiene needs of patients which will
include washing, oral care, escorting to toilet, assisting with bed pans/commodes, making
beds and dealing with dirty linen in accordance with procedures.
• With appropriate training, perform venepuncture, blood pressure recording, urine pregnancy
testing, height and weight recordings.

- Make verbal reports to senior nursing staff regarding the patients in the department as
necessary, following this up with written documentation as needed.
- Ensure that patients are helped to retain their dignity and individuality.
- Participate in the treatment and rehabilitation of patients as required.
- Direct escort and visitors around the endoscopy, clinic/ward and to other departments.
- Report back to registered staff all concerns about the patient’s condition.
- Take all reasonable steps to ensure the safe-keeping of patients’ property, in accordance with
patients’ property procedure.
- Be aware of the need for confidentiality both in the written and spoken word.
- Comply with all Trust policies with particular regard to the policies and procedures carried out
in the event of maintaining staff and patient safety.

You will receive training and will be involved in patient admission, assisting with procedures, recovery, and discharge for patients undergoing endoscopic procedures. Once hired and trained, you may also have the opportunity to work at other Endoscopy Unit sites, including Queen Mary’s Hospital, Roehampton, and the Nelson Health Centre, South Wimbledon.
