Crynodeb
The Paediatric Endocrinology Unit at RMCH provides tertiary and quaternary-level services for children and young people with endocrine, growth, and metabolic bone disorders across the North West from Cumbria to Cheshire.
The unit co-ordinates the regional Congenital Hypothyroid Screening Programme in collaboration with the Department of Biochemistry. Together with Alder Hey Children's Hospital (AHCH), it provides the Northern Congenital Hyperinsulinism (NORCHI) for the North and Midland regions of England. Established in 2006, the service is internationally recognised for both clinical excellence and research in congenital hyperinsulinism
Additional specialist and nationally commissioned services include:
• Hypophosphatasia treatment for metabolic bone disease
• Complications of Excess Weight (CEW) service for the North West, in partnership with AHCH and Royal Preston Hospital
The service also supports a large secondary and tertiary diabetes service for Greater Manchester in conjunction with colleagues from general paediatrics. The department has strong academic and translational research links with the University of Manchester and the Wellcome Trust Children's Clinical Research Facility (WTCCRF).
This will be a 6 PA job comprised of the following activities:
• CEW MDT
• CEW clinic
• Endocrinology clinic
• Endocrine MDT
• Growth Clinic
• On-call/hot week
