Summary
This post has been created to support the current General Surgery department. The post holder will be expected to work as a team, supporting and enhancing the already excellent department. The William Harvey Care Group consists of Urgent and Emergency Care, General Medicine, General Surgery, Colorectal, Gastroenterology and Endoscopy and Cardiology services at William Harvey Hospital (WHH).
Our surgical unit ranks highly in the National Emergency Laparotomy Audit (NELA) outcomes with some of the lowest mortality rates in the country, a reflection of the teamwork and support of the anaesthetic and critical care departments. The Department also boasts a very successful Surgical Same Day Emergency care (SDEC) that has helped deliver high quality and effective emergency and ambulatory care for our patients.
In addition to the clinical responsibilities of the post the department is looking for a candidate who will bring to the department new skills, knowledge and techniques. This may include patient safety, quality improvement, management or research. Possession of proven capabilities in the candidate’s chosen area of expertise together with high training would be advantageous.
