Hours: 37 hours per week Monday-Friday

Role length: 3 months opening assignment

Contract Type: Temporary



The role: You will work within the Housing Options service as part of the Triage Team. The job is fast-paced, dealing with same-day homeless approaches and customers at risk of homelessness. You will manage a varied caseload, provide clear advice, and make statutory decisions in line with Part 7 of the Housing Act 1996.



Key Responsibilities:

Handle on-the-day homeless approaches and provide immediate advice and support.
Manage a caseload of homeless applicants and those threatened with homelessness.
Make decisions including not homeless and not eligible outcomes in line with legislation.
Produce clear and concise statutory decision letters.
Work independently while managing workload efficiently.
Liaise with internal and external partners, negotiating outcomes and supporting applicants.
Use the Jigsaw system to record and update cases.



What the client is looking for:

Strong working knowledge of Part 7 of the Housing Act 1996.
Background in housing advice, homelessness casework, and multi-agency work.
Confident communicator able to write accurate statutory letters.
Ability to work under pressure and manage a busy caseload without close supervision.
Experience using Jigsaw.







Desirable:

Previous experience in a local authority homelessness service.
Familiarity with MS Teams interview processes.
