JOB TITLE: Personal Care AssistantHOURS: NegotiableRATE OF PAY: £13.48 p/h plus holidays & benefitsLOCATION: Meanwood LS6PURPOSE OF ROLE:I am a 47year old single woman who is living with debilitating illnesses that affect my mobility and my ability to live a life without pain. I use a power wheelchair to get around. I also have a folding manual and power wheelchair that can go in a car.I have numerous long-term health conditions that cause me chronic pain, fatigue and a vast number of other symptoms. Due to this, I tire very easily and often find my pain difficult to live with. Small amounts of activity can overwhelm me very quickly. In order to manage my conditions, I have to focus on pacing myself and making the best of what little energy I have, along with balancing my medication and pain treatment.I'm looking for a PA, with a good sense of humour and a positive outlook on life, who also understands that my health fluctuates throughout the course of the day. There are days I can tolerate and enjoy conversations, there are also times when I need assistance to get specific tasks done independently of me, whilst I rest in a quiet environment. I can also be incredibly anxious especially in unfamiliar situations, so I will need reassurance and support.Ideal candidates would have a good understanding (or a willingness to learn) about chronic illnesses. Car driver with own transport is essential. Previous experience is preferred but not a requirement.DUTIES TO INCLUDE:o General household tasks such as laundry, mopping, hoovering, changing beds, ironing and other standard household tasks.o Support with meal prep and shopping.o Assistance with socialising and getting out and about.o Plus any other reasonable requests.SUPERVISION:My PA will be directed by and accountable to me, in all aspects of their role. She must always respect my independence, and ask rather than assume, what assistance I require. A full induction and training will be given. A member of my support team can also provide additional support or guidance, when needed.Hours: Due to the nature of my health I will need a PA (s) who is flexible to work changing shifts depending on my health. I have a small team of PA’s who support me an whilst there is a minimum of 6hrs per week there is scope for more hours.Successful applicants will be subject to an enhanced DBS check and must hold a clean and valid UK driving license.Due to the nature of the role, strict confidentiality is required.
