Summary
Hays Health & Safety are thrilled to be working with a major UK organisation delivering complex infrastructure and consultancy projects across transport and public services.This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Health & Safety professional to join their specialist team, supporting operational delivery and driving continuous improvement in safety, quality, and environmental standards.
As a Senior HSQE Specialist, you'll provide expert advice and assurance across a portfolio of projects, ensuring compliance with legislation and internal governance frameworks. You'll play a key role in embedding a proactive safety culture and influencing best practice throughout the business.
Key Responsibilities
Act as a trusted advisor to project and operational teams, delivering practical, risk-based solutions that add real value.
Develop and maintain clear, concise reports, procedures, and guidance aligned to corporate standards.
Lead and manage a risk-focused audit and inspection programme to identify strengths and areas for improvement.
Support project teams in meeting legal and industry requirements, including CDM and integrated management systems.
Analyse data and trends to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
Promote a culture of "Safety First" through engagement and collaboration at all levels.
What We're Looking For
Qualifications:
NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent Level 6/7 qualification
Chartered (or working towards) membership of IOSH or similar
ISO 45001 Auditor qualification
Experience:
Strong technical knowledge within infrastructure, highways, or consultancy environments
Proven track record in implementing health & safety management systems
Understanding of environmental and quality systems integration
Skills:
Excellent knowledge of UK H&S legislation, including CDM and CAD
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Competent in MS Office and ideally SharePoint, Power BI, and related tools
