Practice Nurse – Slough

A highly respected and forward-thinking GP practice in Slough is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Practice Nurse to join its dynamic and supportive clinical team. This innovative practice is known for embracing new ideas, investing in staff development, and continually improving the quality of care offered to its diverse local community. With a strong emphasis on collaborative working and patient-centred care, this is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated nurse looking to advance their career in a progressive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver comprehensive, high-quality nursing care to patients of all ages, ensuring clinical standards are met and patient experience remains at the forefront of every interaction.

  • Provide expert management of long-term conditions, including asthma, COPD, diabetes, and hypertension, using evidence-based approaches and personalised care plans.

  • Carry out cervical screening, childhood and adult immunisations, and travel vaccinations, following current national guidelines and maintaining accurate clinical records.

  • Perform wound assessments and wound care management, including dressings, suture removal, and ongoing monitoring to support effective healing.

  • Conduct NHS Health Checks and proactive health promotion, offering lifestyle advice, preventative screening, and tailored interventions to improve patient wellbeing.

  • Support the practice with QOF, enhanced services, and clinical audits, contributing to quality improvement initiatives and helping maintain high performance across clinical indicators.

  • Work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team, including GPs, ANPs, HCAs, pharmacists, and administrative staff, ensuring seamless and coordinated patient care.

  • Maintain professional development by engaging in regular training, reflective practice, and participation in clinical meetings.

    The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

    • NMC registration as a Registered Nurse, with a solid understanding of primary care, public health, and clinical best practice.

    • Previous experience in general practice or community nursing is desirable, though full support and training can be provided for nurses transitioning into primary care.

    • Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills, with the ability to work autonomously while knowing when to seek support from senior colleagues.

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, demonstrating empathy, professionalism, and the capacity to build trust with patients and colleagues alike.

    • A flexible and proactive approach, with a genuine passion for improving patient outcomes and contributing positively to the culture of a forward-thinking practice.

    • Confidence using clinical systems and digital tools, with a willingness to learn new technologies that support efficient and effective care delivery.
