Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Housing Options team for a housing options admin officer. The main purpose of the role is to provide support Lancaster City Council’s housing options team which provides a homeless and housing advice service to vulnerable residents throughout the Lancaster district. The team’s aim is to assist residents to remain in their accommodation, prevent homelessness and provide accommodation to those the local housing authority owes a rehousing duty if homelessness cannot be prevented. Applications are sought from persons having relevant experience. Your role will involve providing triage and full administrative support to the Housing Options team staff.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, organised and motivated flexible person “with a can do” attitude who responds well to working under pressure in a small team environment. We require someone who can demonstrate a real commitment to providing excellent customer care and a top quality service to members of the public. You will be a member of a busy team and be responsible for triage and a full range of administrative duties. You should be a proficient IT user. You will also be required to have a sensitive and discrete approach to confidential information, as well as good verbal and written communication skills.
This post is 37 hours per week, working Monday to Friday and will be based at Lancaster Town Hall.

The Council currently operates an excellent Flexible Working Hours Scheme which applies to this post subject to the needs of this business, this may allow employees to work between the hours of 6:00am-10:30pm.
For internal applicants, this role will be considered for a secondment opportunity. The secondment of an employee from another Service can only take place with the agreement of the Manager of the Service the applicant is contracted to. When this role comes to an end, the successful internal applicant will return to their substantive role.
