Summary
AKW GL are looking to recruit a Distribution Manager to join their team at their site in Trafford Park. The role of the Distribution Manager will be to plan and execute collection and delivery schedules via the most cost efficient and cost-effective means, in line with the business objectives, customer service levels and current legislative requirements.
Monday - Friday
50 hours per week
43k per annum
Key Responsibilities
• Fully utilize and lead all IT systems and platforms to ensure vehicles to ensure accurate and appropriate allocation of driver/vehicle/loads/trailers to improve both the efficiency of the department.
• Support Management and follow processes and procedures in relation to Health and safety.
• Build, grow and maintain effective working relationships with key stake holders within both the business and the wider Company to promote partnership working and improve operational efficiency.
• Manage and maintain accurate records for internal purposes and FORS to ensure each location meets all required standards in preparation for both external and internal audits.
• Create, promote and implement clear communication channels with internal departments and external customers to improve KPI’s and the profitability of the business.
• Lead on the effective management of driver hours by authorizing driver timesheets on a weekly basis and auditing and updating hours against the relevant systems to guarantee they are compliant with all regulations.

• Support Management with the implementation and management of safe working practices, general housekeeping and managing audits from both external and internal clients to ensure the Company is compliant.
• Monitor Driver behaviours, including but not limited to vehicles and trailers not being overloaded, vehicles operating within speed limits, defects promptly reported and investigate any infringements with the individual drivers and record any remedial action taken.
• Monitor all information to ensure it is up to date and held in a secure location in order to comply with GDPR legislation.
Key Requirements
• Relevant transport management experience
• Analysing and solving logistic problems
• Working knowledge of the Highway Code, EU tachograph requirements, Working Time Regulations, Road Transport Regulations
• Commercial awareness
• Working knowledge of transport operation systems
• Geography
• Health and Safety regulations
• Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) or equivalent is desirable
