Our client is looking for compassionate, resilient, and proactive Support Workers to join a dedicated team. You'll play a vital role in creating a safe, nurturing, and empowering environment where vulnerable children and young people can heal, grow, and achieve their full potential.
Working within the framework of the Children's Act 1989, National Minimum Standards and Every Child Matters, you'll deliver high-quality, person-centred care that meets physical, emotional, social, and cultural needs.
What You'll Do
- Build positive, trusting relationships with young people, offering unconditional care, and acting as a consistent role model.
- Support care plans as a key worker or co-worker, ensuring individual needs are met and progress is tracked.
- Provide 1:1 emotional and practical support during challenging times.
- Help young people develop self-control, set goals, and celebrate achievements.
- Assist with daily living - cooking, cleaning, maintenance - to create a homely atmosphere.
- Support education and extracurricular activities, including classroom assistance where needed.
- Keep accurate records, contribute to reviews and advocate for young people in meetings.
- Promote community links, off-site activities, and social networks.
- Work collaboratively in a supportive team, attending meetings, supervisions, and training.
- Drive company vehicles (if licensed).
Shift Pattern & Flexibility
- Rotating shifts: Day and night shifts available.
- On-call rota and occasional short-notice changes to cover service needs
Who We're Looking For
Essential
- GCSE A-C (or equivalent) in English
- Experience working with vulnerable children or young people.
- Strong IT skills (Microsoft Office, email, databases, electronic records).
- Excellent written and verbal communication with attention to detail.
- Knowledge of safeguarding, child protection and Ofsted standards.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
- Empathy, patience, and a non-judgemental approach.
- Team player with a flexible, can-do attitude.
- Full UK driving licence (preferred).
- Clear enhanced DBS check (our client will apply on your behalf).
Desirable
- NVQ/QCF Level 3 in Children & Young People (or willingness to complete).
- Experience in residential childcare settings.
- Understanding of equality, diversity and GDPR.
